We have taken the proper steps to
make our product green, but it doesn’t stop there … our
wood waste will not be added to overflowing landfills.
- We burn our wood waste materials to heat our buildings
in order to keep landfills free. Our furnace is 95%
efficient & the C02 emitted is less than that of rotting
wood.
- Our spray equipment has been improved with the latest
technology, keeping emissions into the atmosphere at a
bare minimum.
- Our cabinetry is constructed with pure-bond and
furniture grade plywood, noted for being
formaldehyde-free. End result, our cabinetry is safe for
the environment and your family.
Why PURE-BOND?
- Pure-bond is certified by FSC
- Pure-bond meets LEED's 5 key requirements
1. Sustainable site development
2. Water savings
3. Energy efficiency
4. Material selection
5. Indoor air quality
- Pure-bond is aligned with organizations that meet KCMA, CARB 2011, and
LEED specifications and do everything in their power to
promote a healthier green environment.
So Many Choices . . . How
to Know What is Green & What is Not
KCMA (Kitchen
Cabinet Manufacturers Association)
*The KCMA Environmental Stewardship Program takes some
initial steps towards companies using green products but
is more of an entry level program versus some of the
other organizations currently out there with more
stringent green requirements.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)
*A not-for profit organization devoted to encouraging
the responsible management of the world’s forests.
CARB (California Air Resources Board)
*A group of advisors that gathers air quality data for
the state, ensures the quality of this data, designs and
implements air models and sets ambient air quality
standards. CARB has passed the strictest regulation to
date: By 2011 the majority of plywood products must be
practically formaldehyde free prior to entering the
state.
LEED (the Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design)
*LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the
design, construction and operation of high performance
green buildings. It promotes a whole-building approach
to sustainability by recognized performance in five key
areas of human and environmental health.

Colonial Craft Kitchens
proudly supports distributors of Appalachian Hardwoods
and members of the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers,
Inc. distributing lumber from the 344-county AHMI
territory which is a Sustainable Hardwood Forest- as
defined by AHMI and based on the research data from the
United States Forest Service Inventory
and Analysis
That shows:
Net annual hardwood growth rates have
exceeded annual hardwood harvest levels in the AHMI
territory over the past 50 years.
